Event Promotional

Friday nights at BYU-I offer students the opportunity to forget about school for a bit, socialize, and meet others at their Latin dances.

When this project came to my list of assignments, I would've normally assigned it to my student employees and trusted in their design skills to get the work done, but I selfishly took this project for myself. Having a strong connection to the Mexican culture, I wanted to do something that represented beyond the known stereotypical things I've seen in the USA when promoting Mexican culture like sombreros, cactus, and maracas (note: this poster was created before the Pixar Movie "Coco" came out).

I used bright colors on a dark background to emphasize the dark tones of the dance, contrasting with the bright, colorful "banderitas" that are present in many Mexican celebrations.
